Careers 9
Careers 9 is a course outside of the timetable but supported in the students’ Socials 9 class. The Career Facilitator, Mrs. Luteijn will work with the students in their Block D class to provide an opportunity for the students to meet their Careers 9 curricular outcomes for the year. Students will continue to collect evidence and reflect on their learning in their MyBlueprint Portfolios started in middle school. If their tasks are not completed in class it can be done on a computer at home.
Career Life Education 10 (CLE10)
Career Life Education 10 is a 4-credit course in the student’s timetable and is required for graduation. Students will start working on a transition plan for after high school, as well as start to develop one of their inquiry questions and plan what will form the main focus of their Capstone Project to be worked on and shared at the end of their Career Life Connections 12 course which is taken in grade 11.

Career Life Connections 12 (CLC12) & Capstone
Career Life Connections 12 & Capstone is a 4-credit course in the student's timetable and is required for graduation. All BC high-school graduates will be required to share their Capstone Portfolio which is to include their transition plan for after graduation and a Capstone inquiry project as part of their legislated graduation requirements.
The Capstone Portfolio will have 4 key components
The Capstone Portfolio Conversation will take place during the last week of their semestered class.
Defining your Capstone project
The Capstone Project can be defined as a: Experiment/Research, Event, Project, Occupation/Entrepreneur, or Service Oriented Capstone Project. It is a culminating or final senior project that will allow students to demonstrate their learning in an in-depth study of an area of interest. Ideally the project would involve the collaboration with a mentor and reflect an area that students are passionate about and in which they anticipate pursuing further learning, investigation and/or a career pathway.
The purpose of the Capstone process & presentation is to CELEBRATE individual learning, growth, transition plans and achievements across a student’s journey!

The Capstone Portfolio will have 4 key components
- myBlueprint Portfolios: An in-depth personalized gathering of information, transition documents and skills & experiences gathered across grades to prepare for work and career pathway opportunities. This is comprised of the students' myBlueprint About Me, After High School Plan, and Core Competencies portfolios. These portfolios were started in grade 9.
- Life 101 Portfolio: A collection of reflections based on topics covered in LC12 class.
- Capstone Inquiry Project: An in-depth Problem Based Learning Project (Experiment/Research, Event, Project, Occupation/Entrepreneur, or Service Oriented Capstone Project).
- Capstone Portfolio Conversation: A public sharing of the student's Capstone Portfolio: Their myBlueprint Portfolios (About Me, Plan After High School, Core Competencies, & Life 101), and their Capstone Project. The students will demonstrate their personal learning journey and achievements in and out of school, growth in the core competencies, and reflections on decision-making and transition plans.

Work & Volunteer Experience (WAVE) WEX12A/12B
Looking for an opportunity to gain some valuable employability skills? Consider signing up for WEX. Earn 4 high school credits for completing some pre-work placement assignments, 80 hours of logged experience, and some post-placement wrap up work. Students should sign up for WAVE before the end of September. After September, students can register through LEC (Langley Education Centre).
